【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversrequirementsfortwotypesandtwoclassesofsheathedcrateseachofwhichmayhavetwobasestyles.Thecratesaredesignedfornetloadsnotexceeding30000poundslb[13607kg]andtowithstandthemostsevereoverseasshippingandstorageconditions.1.2Thecratesdescribedbythisspecificationareintendedtoprotectitemsfromatmosphericelementsduringshipmentandstorage.Theyaredesignedtowithstandtheroughhandlingoflogisticoperationsincludingstackingandoutsidestorageforaprolongedperiod.1.3Class1and2cratesmaybeusedinterchangeablyasdesired.However,theClass2crateshouldbeusedwhenweightisaprimeconsideration,asthelackofdiagonalsandthinnerplywoodsheathingresultsinalightercrate.1.4Demountablecrates,TypeII,shouldbeusedwheneveritisexpectedthatthecontaineditemwillrequirereshippingtoanotherdestination.1.5Sillbases,StyleB,areintendedforitemsthatprojectbelowtheirmountingpoints,suchasdisassembledvehicles.1.6Iftheuseofotherconstructionmethodortechniquesisacceptableandpermitted(see5.10),theresultingpackagingsystemsshallbeofequalorbetterperformancethanwouldresultfromtheuseofthesespecifiedmaterialsandprocedures.Theappropriatedistributioncycle,specifiedinPracticeD4169canbeusedtodevelopcomparativeproceduresandcriteria.1.7ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.SeeIEEE/ASTMSI10forconversionofunits.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
