【摘要】:Mostspecificationsforcommercialandindustrialcoatingsprojectsstipulateaminimumandamaximumdryfilmthicknessforeachlayerinacoatingsystem.Additionally,mostmanufacturersofhighperformancecoatingswillwarrantycoatingsystemsbasedupon,inpart,achievingtheproperthicknessofeachlayerandthetotalcoatingsystem.Evenifaprojectspecificationisnotprovided,thecoatingmanufacturerx2019;srecommendationspublishedonproductdatasheetscanbecomethegoverningdocument(s).Equipmentmanufacturersproducenon-destructivecoatingthicknesstestinggagesthatareusedtomeasurethecumulativethicknessofthecoatinglayers,aftertheyaredry.Themanufacturersprovideinformationfortheadjustmentanduseofthesegages,normallyintheformofoperatinginstructions.Theuserofthisequipmentmustbeknowledgeableintheproperoperationofthesedevices,includingmethodsforverifyingtheaccuracyoftheequipmentpriorto,duringandafteruseaswellasmeasurementprocedures.Thispracticewaspreparedtodescribethepropermethodsforverifyingtheaccuracyofcoatingthicknessmeasuringgages,aswellasthepropermethodsforobtainingcoatingthicknessmeasurementsonbothferrousandnon-ferrousmetalsubstrates.1.1Thispracticedescribesthenondestructivemeasurementofthedryfilmthicknessofnonmagneticcoatingsappliedtothesurfaceofferrousmetalsusingmagneticgagesandthenondestructivemeasurementofthedryfilmthicknessofelectricallynonconductive,nonmagneticcoatingsappliedtothesurfaceofnonferrousmetalsusingeddycurrentgages.Thispracticeisintendedtosupplementthemanufacturers''instructionsforthemanualoperationofthegagesandisnotintendedtoreplacethem.Itincludesdefinitionsofkeyterms,referencedocuments,thesignificanceanduseofthepractice,theadvantagesandlimitationsofcoatingthicknessgages,andadescriptionoftestspecimens.Itdescribesthemethodsandrecommendedfrequencyforverifyingtheaccuracyofgagesandforadjusting(optimizing)theequipment,describesafrequencyformeasuringthethicknessofthecoating(s)andliststhereportingrecommendations.1.2Theseproceduresarenotapplicabletocoatingsthatwillbereadilydeformedundertheloadofthemeasuringgages/probes,asthegageprobemustbeplaceddirectlyonthecoatingsurfacetoobtainareading.Provisionsformeasuringonsoftortackycoatingsaredescribedin.1.3Useoffilmthicknessmeasuringgagesonmetal-filledcoatingsmayproduceerroneousresults,dependingonthetypeandamountofmetalinthecoatingfilm.Theusershouldconsultthemanufacturersinstructionsregardingtheuseofcoatingthicknessgagesonthesetypesofcoatings.1.4Coatingthicknesscanbemeasuredusingavarietyofgages.Thesegagesarecategorizedas"magneticpull-off"and"electronic."Theyuseasensingprobeormagnettomeasurethegap(distance)betweenthebasemetalandtheprobe.Thismeasureddistanceisdisplayedascoatingthicknessbythegages.Accordingly,thesegagescannotdistinguishthethicknessofindividuallayersaftertheyhaveallbeenapplied.Thethicknessofeachlayermustbemeasuredafteritisapplied.Eventhen,thethicknessofthemeasuredlayeristhecumulativethicknessofthatlayerandalllayersbeneathit,downtothebasemetal.1.5Gageswhichmeasurecoatingthicknessusinganultrasonicprinciplemayalsobeabletomeasurethethicknessofcoatingsappliedtometalsurfaces.Thispracticedoesnotaddresstheuseofultrasoniccoatingthicknessgages.TestMethodD6132shouldbereferencedforthisapplication.1.6Coatingthicknesscanvarywidelyacrossasurface.Asaresult,obtainingsingle-pointmeasurementsmaynotaccuratelyrepresenttheactualcoatingsyste......
