【摘要】:ThevalueofYoungrsquo;modulusisamaterialpropertyusefulindesignforcalculatingcomplianceofstructuralmaterialsthatfollowHookersquo;lawwhensubjectedtouniaxialloading(thatis,thestrainisproportionaltotheappliedforce).Formaterialsthatfollownonlinearelasticstress-strainbehavior,thevalueoftangentorchordmodulusisusefulinestimatingthechangeinstrainforaspecifiedrangeinstress.Sinceformanymaterials,Youngrsquo;modulusintensionisdifferentfromYoungrsquo;modulusincompression,itshallbederivedfromtestdataobtainedinthestressmodeofinterest.Theaccuracyandprecisionofapparatus,testspecimens,andproceduralstepsshouldbesuchastoconformtothematerialbeingtestedandtoareferencestandard,ifavailable.PrecisedeterminationofYoungrsquo;modulusrequiresdueregardforthenumerousvariablesthatmayaffectsuchdeterminations.Theseinclude(1)characteristicsofthespecimensuchasorientationofgrainsrelativetothedirectionofthestress,grainsize,residualstress,previousstrainhistory,dimensions,andeccentricity;(2)testingconditions,suchasalignmentofthespecimen,speedoftesting,temperature,temperaturevariations,conditionoftestequipment,ratiooferrorinappliedforcetotherangeinforcevalues,andratiooferrorinextensionmeasurementtotherangeinextensionvaluesusedinthedetermination;and(3)interpretationofdata(seeSection9).Whenthemodulusdeterminationismadeatstrainsinexcessof0.25%,correctionshouldbemadeforchangesincross-sectionalareaandgagelength,bysubstitutingtheinstantaneouscrosssectionandinstantaneousgagelengthfortheoriginalvalues.Compressionresultsmaybeaffectedbybarreling(seeTestMethodsE9).Strainmeasurementsshouldthereforebemadeinthespecimenregionwheresucheffectsareminimal.FIG.2Load-DeviationGraph1.1ThistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofYoung''smodulus,tangentmodulus,andchordmodulusofstructuralmaterials.Thistestmethodislimitedtomaterialsinwhichandtotemperaturesandstressesatwhichcreepisnegligiblecomparedtothestrainproducedimmediatelyuponloadingandtoelasticbehavior.1.2Becauseofexperimentalproblemsassociatedwiththeestablishmentoftheoriginofthestress-straincurvedescribedin8.1,thedeterminationoftheinitialtangentmodulus(thatis,theslopeofthestress-straincurveattheorigin)andthesecantmodulusareoutsidethescopeofthistestmethod.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
